| Muggle version of Quidditch |
At the Liberal Arts and Sciences Academy, a high school in Austin, Texas, a group of students has formed a Muggle Quidditch Club, in which they play a Muggle version of the game. Since we're all Muggles, flying broomsticks and whizzing Golden Snitches just don't work out for us. This hasn't fazed the academy's creative students, however. Their version of Quidditch is played on the ground, though they're still required to hold a broomstick between their legs. The Snitch is played in the form of a tennis ball hanging out of a player's shorts. The video, linked below, helps to explain gameplay. To read the full story, and watch a video of the game being played, click here. |

| JKR Wins Privacy Court Case Appeal! |
With the whole JKR.v.Lexicon business going on, it's nice to know that there is definitely something in the legal world that JKR can celebrate. Last year JK lost a court battle to protect the privacy of her children; with the case revolving mainly around a long-lens photo taken of her son back in 2004. Thankfully, JK today appealed against this decision and won! Well done, Jo! Ms. Rowling and her husband, Dr. Neil Murray, released this statement - We understand and accept that with the success of Harry Potter there will be a measure of legitimate media and public interest in Jo's professional activities and appearances. However, we have striven to give our children a normal family life outside the media spotlight. We are immensely grateful to the court for giving our children protection from covert, unauthorised photography; this ruling will make an immediate and material difference to their lives. Thanks to HPANA. |

| Part of young Lucius Malfoy cast for HBP |
In an interview with Blogwarts.com, the 18-year-old said his character appears in a dinner scene with Professor Slughorn, as well as Dumbledore's death scene. Tony worked alongside Jim Broadbent (Slughorn), Michael Gambon (Dumbledore), and Maggie Smith (McGonagall), just to name a few. "Its amazing to be in the film and would never have imagined that I would feature in one, even though the part is small, it's still fantastic fun." | Ten Years Have Passed... |
That is right folks, in the magical realm of the Harry Potter series, it has been ten years today since Harry defeated Lord Voldemort during the final battle in Hogwarts. When the clocks struck midnight on 2nd of May, 1998 the final battle started. It is true that the minor hostilites between the two sides started on the 1st of May, but the Final Battle didn't start until midnight when Voldemorts final ultimatum expired and the real battle begin. We will all remember the scene unfolding as we read, truly, one of the most amazing scenes that Jo has ever bestowed upon us. Sadly, today also marks the ten year anniversary of the death of Fred Weasley, Tonks, Remus Lupin, and countless others. They died bravely fighting for what they thought was right, and I'm sure tears were spilled in both the fictional world of Harry Potter, and from Jo's loyal readers. Raise you glasses to Harry and his triumphant win over Lord Voldemort ten years ago, and bow your heads in memory for all the losses suffered, and the death of characters we all grew to love. |

For ten years, the Harry Potter books have appeared somewhere on The New York Times’s best-seller list. The hardcover edition of Sorcerer's Stone, was the first Harry Potter book to make it on the list, at the bottom of the hardcover fiction list on Dec. 27, 1998. The Harry Potter books later went to the list for children's series books in 2004. They have now disappeared of the list, but with the next movie and encyclopedia coming out, they're sure to make a comeback! To read the full article click here. |

| Radcliffe gets appraising 'My Boy Jack' review |
Stuff.co.nz gave Daniel Radcliffe a good review of his role in the movie My Boy Jack, saying: "Bizarrely, this casting was perfect. Radcliffe was totally believable as the dutiful but troubled teen trying to both knuckle under and break away from the huge shadow of his father." The movie itself was said to be "perfect Anzac fare, and extremely moving." Great job, Dan! |
