NBC to show “Making of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter”

The Hollywood Reporter has recently announced that NBC will be airing a special, June 6 on the “Making of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter”. NBC have stated:
“The Making of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter,” which gives viewers a sneak peak of the Universal Orlando Resort’s new theme park attraction, runs Sunday, June 6.

Ellen to take a tour of the HP theme Park

Brandish Your Wand with New iPhone App

A new application has just become available for the iPhone that allows its users to really dive in and experience the wizarding world of Harry Potter like no other game out there. This application, called “Harry Potter: Spells,” all but turns your phone into one of Ollivander’s quality wands by making creative use of the iPhone’s innovative tilting technology.
Game play is simple enough. To cast a spell, simply move the phone in the direction indicated by the instructive arrows, as though actually brandishing a wand. The spell Expecto Patronum, for example, requires the user to make a swift triangular shape with the iPhone. Single player mode allows for three different difficulty settings, in which you battle computer-generated foes, while multiplayer brings the game to life by dueling in real time with other iPhone users.
This game has much more depth than just that, however. Each spell has a specific category: either healing, defensive, offensive, or non-dueling, and must be used in the correct context. There are additional features that allow users to record their voices performing the spells, as well as extras such as House Cup tournament and Sorting into a Hogwarts House. This game is a must-have for any Harry Potter fanatic, and is available now at the App Store.

HBP nominated for 4 Saturn Awards!

For those who don’t know, The Saturn Awards recognise the best of Fantasy, Sci Fi and Horror films and Television.
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince has been nominated for 4 awards in total, those being:
1. Best Fantasy Film;
2. Costume;
3. Production Design; and
4. Special Effects
The awards are going to be given out June 24, 2010.

Plagiarism Claims against J.K Rowling!

The beloved author of the Harry Potter series has recently been mixed up in court proceedings regarding alleged plagiarism claims against herself.
It is alleged that she copied ideas from Adrian Jacob’s Willy the Wizard and incorporated them into Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Rowling has of course strongly denied these allegations and has asked the court to dismiss the claims.
“I am saddened that yet another claim has been made that I have taken material from another source to write Harry. The fact is I had never heard of the author or the book before the first accusation by those connected to the author’s estate in 2004; I have certainly never read the book.”
She went on…
“The claims that are made are not only unfounded but absurd and I am disappointed that I, and my UK publisher Bloomsbury, are put in a position to have to defend ourselves. We will be applying to the Court immediately for a ruling that the claim is without merit and should therefore be dismissed without delay.”

Kevin McKidd clearly no fan of Potter

In a recent interview by mtv, which can be seen here, Kevin McKidd talks about a role in the last 2 potter movies he turned down supposedly because of a lack of time.
However, it doesn’t really become clear which role exactly he turned down. Might he have meant Fenrir Greyback when talking about “this big alpha male werewolf” character? The actor continues to confess his kids were “pissed”
Can you see Kevin McKidd in the role of villain Greyback? Or was it perhaps a lucky day for HPfans all around that he wasn’t interested?

Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry seeks Staff Members

DMRP, Darkmark’s Role Playing Game forum, is opening it’s doors for eager young students to be educated in the long standing tradition of Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. We will broaden their horizons by teaching such spells and magic becoming for the fine new generation of Wizards. DMRP is an all-original RP forum set in the year 1793. Students start their career as 11 year old students just entering Hogwarts. Willingness to adhere by 1793 standards of living is required from all players.
We are seeking hardy souls and intelligent Professors to ensure the education of our nations young witches and wizards. Applicants are expected to possess excellent writing and teaching skills, as well as a thorough understanding of both Wizarding and Muggle society.
Besides Professors, we are also in dire need of a Caretaker, Nurse and Game Keeper.
