4 Types of HP Readers Revealed

    By admin | October 21, 2008

According to the research of Ulster University professor Stephen Brown, readers of Harry Potter can be sorted into four basic categories, which have been named after that of the Hogwarts houses:

“What we noticed was that the different types of readers were incredibly close to the characteristics of the four houses in the books. It was surprising but it made sense. Only the Hufflepuffs are totally loyal to Harry, the Gryffindors are already moving on to other things, the Slytherins never really liked him anyway and the Ravenclaws are too busy writing their own fan fiction or posting spoof videos on YouTube.”

After Brown surveyed children from the age of seven and above, he concluded that while fans recognize the impact Potter has had on our lives, we will eventually look back on all of this and wonder if it was really worth it.

“It could come back into fashion but I think it could be like many fads and just fade away and people will look back and say, ‘Why did we ever read this stuff?’”

I’m a Hufflepuff in that case. HP FOREVER! I’m so insanely dedicated it’s scary. And I realize it’s scary, yet continue.

I truly don’t think it’s just a fad. Clothing is a fad. Shallow teen drama books are a fad. LOTR is still popular. Some books are classics. HP is so much deeper than a lot of people realize. It’s not just a kid’s book, and it’s rooted in history, philosophy, mythology, and so much more. I think it’s a classic.

Agreed with Laurie. Big surprise there, right? =P
So this would make me a huffle. Meh…I’m 1/4 Huffle anyway. =P

Gryffindork? HELLS no! But I admit that once you get into the gist of Hogwarts, Harry becomes a boring character. I wonder how J.K. didn’t throw him under a bus or something. xD But naaa, I’ll be loyal to Harry, I owe him a lot, you know? We all do. Our love for that little fellow brought us here, am I right?

      <3

      [s]I still hate him though[/s] <.<

I though that they meant Harry the character, but they were just referring to the series in general. If they were referring just to Harry, then I’m a Gryffindor.
But I think they were talking about the series.

I’m pretty sure they’re referring to the series, not the character. But I love both. I guess I got a little annoyed with Harry at some points, but I like that’s he’s a normal teenager with flaws and going through the same stuff we go through, just with the addition of fearing for his life every moment. It’s impossible to not love him.
