Rupert Grint Talks Potter
By admin | February 11, 2009
In a recent interview during the duration of his attendance at the Berlin Film Festival, Rupert Grint spoke of his role in the upcoming film Cherrybomb and its contrast to his role in Harry Potter, among other things:
Mister Grint, this cocaine-sniffing, sex driven character with the quiff you play in Cherrybomb is more a kind of Anti-Harry Potter-character …
Rupert: (laughs) Indeed. It hasn’t much in common with Ron Weasley. It’s a much more adult movie. I savored that a lot.Was it a conscious decision to accept this role?
Rupert: No, yes, maybe…Doesn’t your agent worry that this film about out-of-control teenagers could damage the harmless-image of Harry Potter?
Rupert: It’s possible. But this movie is made for a different audience. We’ve all grown a bit older, that’s why I can get away with it. I’m 20 now.Is it true that there’s a contract clause prescribing good behaviour for the Harry Potter movies?
Rupert: I never heard about this before. I really haven’t ever got up to anything. Are you looking forward to shooting your next Potter film? Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be a two-parter.
Rupert: Yes, it will take 14 months or thereabouts to shoot the movie. That’s really a long time. But it’s worth it. It’s a great book of great importance, because it’s the last movie. Are you already thinking about life after Harry Potter?
Rupert: There’s still some time, but somehow yes.How did the Harry Potter hype influence you, your family, your friendships, your bank account?
Rupert: Of course it has changed my life completely. But everything happened so fast and I had a really great time. Are you asking yourself sometimes what would have become of you without Ron Weasley?
Rupert: Oh, yes. And I have no idea. Probably an ice cream man, that was my goal for a long time. (laughs) But seriously: I was very lucky. The Harry Potter success never cost you any friends?
Rupert: No, I was always in contact with my old mates. I had the weekends off and I lived really close to the studios. I could honestly live a fairly normal life.
