Inside Harry Potter: The Exhibition
By Manda | December 21, 2009
Harry Potter: The Exhibition isn’t just available in Canada! The Boston Museum of Science (located in Boston, Massachusetts, USA) will be playing host to Harry Potter: The Exhibition from now until February 21, 2010.
Amanda Tarbet, writer for online column Sequential Tart, wrote about her recent visit to the museum, and gives Harry Potter fans a peek into the exhibit itself. She writes:
There were a few displays that really stood out and made the whole journey worthwhile. First of all, the portrait of Gilderoy Lockhart painting a portrait of himself from Chamber of Secrets is there in all its full sized glory. It truly is a work of art and I wish they had sold duplicates in the gift shop. (Try getting one of those home on the subway!) In the Gryffindor Boys’ Dormitory, there is a particular cloth used for the bed curtains, a deep red with astrological symbols and mythical creatures printed on it in gold, which I wish I could find and use to make something. I would learn how to sew for the simple reason of being able to make something with that cloth. As a lifelong fan of mythical creatures, the Buckbeak, baby thestral, and dragon models were seriously cool. And as someone who writes for a webzine and reads a lot of magazines, it was fascinating to see the wizard versions of print media, like the Quibbler, the Daily Prophet, and the Quidditch weeklies. Best of all was the scrumptious faux food that was sculpted for the banquet during the TriWizard Tournament in Goblet of Fire. Cake Boss has nothing on the elves that cook for Hogwarts.
