The Order's headquarters was Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place in London. This building was the ancestral home of the Black family, which was inherited by Harry Potter after the death of his Godfather, Sirius Black. The building itself appears small and modest on the outside, while being very large and opulent on the inside. The house is also mots likely unplottable and was definitely hidden with a Fidelius Charm, with Albus Dumbledore as its Secret-Keeper. With the death of Dumbledore, the Order discontinued using this as their head quarters. Additionally, anybody who Dumbledore himself had not already told the location to cannot ever enter the place.
The Order had poor relations with the Ministry of Magic after Voldemort returned and rose to power once again. This was solely due to Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of Magic, refusing to believe that Voldemort had returned, even going to far as to force the Daily Prophet to slander both Harry Potter and Albus Dumbledore until most of the wizarding community believed they were liars for saying Voldemort had returned. Although Fudge was replaced by Rufus Scrimgeour as Minister after it was proven that Voldemort did in fact return. Although the Order and Ministry do not appear to be openly working together, it is unlikely that the Ministry is actively working against the Order of the Phoenix like it was during Fudge's tenure.
Listed below are the members of the Order of the Phoenix, with some insight on each member:
- Black, Sirius - Currently on the run from the Ministry of Magic after escaping Azkaban, the wizard prison. He is an unregistered Animagus.
- Bones, Edgar - A relative to Madam Bones, Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Magic, and Susan Bones, who studies at Hogwarts. He died assisting the Order of the Phoenix.
- Dearborne, Caradoc - Disappeared.
- Diggle, Dedalus
- Doge, Elphias
- Dumbledore, Abeforth - Albus Dumbledore's brother. He is believed to be the barman at the Hog's Head.
- Dumbledore, Albus - Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Said to be the most powerful wizard in recent times.
- Fenwick, Benjy - Died assisting the Order.
- Figg, Arabella - Batty old neighbour of Harry and a squib. She watches over Harry in order of Dumbledore during the summers and usually gave Harry a horrible time to avoid blowing her cover. She reveals herself in Harry's fifth year.
- Fletcher, Mundungus - A criminal, who had been arrested several times in the past. He is a member of the Order of the Phoenix because of his underground connections.
- Hagrid, Rubeus - Current Care of Magical Creatures teacher at Hogwarts. Also the Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts.
- Longbottom, Alice - Mother of Neville Longbottom. She currently resides at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries with husband Frank Longbottom because they went insane while being tortured by Bellatrix Lestrange, a Death Eater.
- Longbottom, Frank - Father of Neville Longbtoom. He currently resides at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries with wife Alice Longbottom because they went insane while being tortured by Bellatrix Lestrange, a Death Eater.
- Lupin, Remus - Former Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts. He is a Werewolf.
- Meadowes, Dorcas - Died.
- McGonagall, Minerva - Current Transfigurations teacher at Hogwarts. She is also the head of Gryffindor house.
- McKinnon, Marlene - Died.
- Moody, Alastor - A retired Auror, who sent a great deal of Death Eaters to Azkaban.
- Prewett, Fabian - A relative to Molly Weasley. Died at the hands of Death Eaters.
- Prewett, Gideon - A relative to Molly Weasley. Also died at the hands of Death Eaters.
- Podmore, Sturgis
- Potter, Lily - Mother of Harry Potter. Died at the hands of Voldemort trying to defend Harry.
- Potter, James - Father of Harry Potter. Also died at the hands of Voldemort trying to defend his wife and child.
- Shacklebolt, Kingsley - Currently working at the Ministry of Magic as an Auror.
- Snape, Severus - Current Potions teacher at Hogwarts. He is also the head of Slytherin house.
- Tonks, Nymphadora - Currently working at the Ministry of Magic as an Auror. She is born a Metamorphagi.
- Vance, Emmeline
- Weasley, Arthur - Currently working at the Ministry of Magic as the head of the Misuse of Muggle Artefacts office.
- Weasley, Bill - Currently working at Gringotts Bank.
- Weasley, Charlie - Currently resides in Romania studying Dragons.
- Weasley, Molly - Wife of Arthur Weasley. She acts as the caretaker of Number 12, Grimmauld Place.
